A quick & helpful guideline for photographers to help them choose models and how to find them.

From the beginning I knew I wanted to do something grotesque with this image of tree fungas. I did a google search on "biting arm" and came across lots of babies sucking on forearms. I finally found a picture that gave me an idea on how I could pose my daughter. I sat her on a chair in the closet and draped a curtain behind her, closed all the shades. The flash was bounced upward while I snapped several different poses.
This finished piece is the second of two. The first one didn't have the right amount of bite, she was looking at the camera, and the fleshy infection just didn't have that special open wound look. The tree fungas was brushed into the arm at different angles and I painted over the top of it. |
